The Reef Playacar Beach Resort & Spa Playa del Carmen

I loved the chill vibes of the hotel, plus being right on the beach was a big bonus with the daily seaweed cleaning routine. The smaller size of the resort was just what I needed, and the all-inclusive food was pretty decent, serving up a variety of choices to prevent the post-vacation bulge. 😊

The beach was amazing, and the food exceeded expectations. Some areas need updating, but the lush green surroundings were beautiful. Service from certain staff members stood out positively. Just be mindful of potential extra charges and the need for room improvements.

Despite construction noise and uncomfortable bedding, the beautiful grounds, constant sargassum cleaning, and friendly staff stood out. The beach, food, and activities were delightful, but pushy sales tactics and subpar room conditions were disappointing.

The buffet breakfast at Chulavista was like a morning symphony for my taste buds - a delightful array of options that left me feeling like I had just conquered a culinary marathon. The fresh fruits, pastries, and made-to-order omelets were absolutely divine, setting the bar high for the rest of the day.

The grounds are well-maintained, featuring perfectly pruned gardens and ample space for relaxation. The pools are clean and spacious, ensuring a comfortable experience. The beach is the best in the area, with plenty of room for everyone and an abundance of chairs available. The two included restaurants, Italian and Mexican, serve delicious food, and there is an option to upgrade for access to a Japanese restaurant at another resort. The drink menu offers a wide variety of tropical and non-alcoholic options, all of which are tasty and well-prepared. The service is fast and friendly. The rooms are beautiful, with excellent amenities such as a stocked mini-fridge, functional TV, refreshing rain shower, and efficient air conditioning.

I recently stayed at The Reef in Playa del Carmen for a week-long vacation. The grounds of the hotel were absolutely beautiful, with lush greenery and a stunning interior jungle. I loved waking up to the sight of different animals roaming around. The food at the main restaurant was delicious, and the pools and beach were perfect for relaxing. The staff, especially Axel and the towel stand team, were friendly and helpful. it was a wonderful and unforgettable experience.

Some guests did not always clean up after themselves on the beach, giving it an unpleasant look.

The staff at the resort were exceptional, particularly Emiliano at the Mexican restaurant. Chris and Ovidiu kept us entertained by the pool. The rooms were clean and spacious, but the lack of ocean view rooms and small main course portions were disappointing. Additionally, the bars’ cleaning methods and breakfast sales presentation were off-putting. However, the hotel's prime location and dedicated staff made up for these shortcomings.

I loved the flexibility of the all-inclusive package, being able to create my stay as it suited me. The Tonatetli Temazcal treatment was a unique and healing experience.

Oh, and let's not forget the amazing internet connection in the rooms. said no one ever.

My recent stay at The Reef Playacar Resort & Spa was amazing! I visited for a relaxing beach vacation and stayed for 5 nights. The resort is incredibly peaceful and the beach is absolutely stunning. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I was fortunate to receive an upgrade to a junior suite with a whirlpool and a beautiful view. The resort is spread out across several buildings, creating a lovely atmosphere. I even had the chance to spot agoutis and white-nosed coati within the hotel complex. The beach was kept pristine, with the seaweed cleared away daily. The a la carte restaurant offered delicious food and a great ambience. I had a fantastic experience.

I keep returning for the friendly staff and assistance with my heavy baggage. The resort suits me perfectly, offering Wi-Fi, 24-hour reception, babysitting, outdoor pool. I'm excited to come back for New Year!

The beach was sandy and expansive, with plenty of seating available. The rooms were comfortable, with spacious bathrooms and good amenities. The food was enjoyable, especially the Mexican and Italian restaurants, and the buffet had great build-your-own stations. The location in Playacar was ideal, being quieter than Playa del Carmen but still within walking distance.

From the engaging onsite activities like the float ride and the colorful evening to the fully supervised kids program, there was always something for everyone. The nightly shows and live entertainment were a hit with both the kids and adults, making every evening lively and enjoyable.

For dads it would be great if the resort offered more family suites with larger bed options to accommodate families with children more comfortably.
